We've got books! We've got beverages! We've got guests! Join us, and let's start up the book group!

Feb 11, 2021

We are taking a small detour from our usual book group structure to look at some of the pop culture going on around us. And of course: we share related books!

As we always do: grab your book, grab a beverage, and maybe get your streaming subscription warmed up because you are going to want to see this!

Today we are chatting about the very popular TV series: The Mandalorian. Even if you have never seen this, you have almost certainly seen one of the stars of this show: Baby Yoda! And of course, for Star Wars purists, it would be heresy to call him by this factually incorrect name. In Season One, he was referred to as The Child; and in Season Two we do learn his name: Grogu [pronounced Grow-Goo]

And this is part of the Star Wars universe, building on the space opera of those stories. So, what is a space opera? Wikipedia says:“Space opera is a subgenre of science fiction that emphasizes space warfare, melodramatic adventure, interplanetary battles, chivalric romance, and risk-taking.”
